Women More Vulnerable to Food Allergies
Filed in archive Allergy: Research and Development on December 31, 2007
Over the last few months, I've read many reports that the number of children with food allergies have risen so much over the previous years. But did you know that adult-onset food allergies are also increasing, particularly among women?

In fact an Australian-based study has found that adult women are becoming increasingly vulnerable to food allergies.
When the body is under stress, people tolerate less of certain food chemicals or synthetic additives.
Women in particular can be affected around their menstrual cycle.
Do women nowadays lead more stressful lives than their counterparts a generation ago? If this continues, can you imagine just how many adults will have food allergies 10 years from now, when all the food allergic kids today are older and haven't outgrown their food allergies?
