Woman Dies of Allergic Reaction to Fire Ants
It's the season when people start to spend more and more time outdoors. For those who have gardens to tend, longer and sunnier days also mean that there's a lot to do while the weather permits it. Mowing, mulching, weeding, etc. For people with allergies, it can be a nuisance. Pollens are usually the enemies for those with allergic rhinitis or hay fever, but those who have allergy to insect stings have to take a lot of care, too!

Remember that guy who died because of a bee sting? Here's another piece of news that underlines how serious insectlinks allergies can be: Fire ant bites turned fatal for a Lowcountry woman who was stung while tending to her garden....

I don't want to sound like I am selling the product, but it just makes me wonder how it could have been if there was a dose of epinephrine nearby. Probably could have saved a life.

For more tips on how you can avoid insect stings, see my previous entry: Summer Survival Tips for Stinging Insect Reactions.
