However, Dads need to get involved too.
Although such intentions may be noble, the potential results may be unenviable if dads end up being kept out of the loop, Moassessi said. One risk is that Dad may not know what to do in an emergency when Mom's away.
Not having dads more involved also increases the risk for accidental exposure, since dads don't have as much opportunity to develop a preventive mindset.
In our family, my husband knows as much as I do about our son's allergies. He's as careful at looking at labels and evaluating situations for potential mishaps. He not only knows what to what substances my son is allergic to, he also knows what to do in case of accidental exposure.
Lucky are those fathers of children with allergies who are in the nevada area. Caroline Moasessi, a co-leader of the of the Northern Nevada Asthma and Food Allergy Parent Education Group, has helped organize a Daddy Boot Camp Class. They've invited a male allergist from San Francisco to Dads up to speed with the latest developments in the field and also answer their questions. With the women out of the picture, Moassessi hopes the event will be less intimidating. Read about it from the Reno Gazette Journal.
