Volvo S80: For Allergy Free Driving
It seems like the Ford Motor Company is strengthening their commitment to make better in-car air quality for the sake of people with allergies and asthma (either that, or they are just smart enough to recognize the market). Following the launch of hypoallergenic Ford cars earlier this year, they now have the "Clean Zone Interior Package (CZIP)" available for Volvo's new S80, the first-ever car model to meet the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association's standards.

What features are included in the CZIP-enabled Volvo S80?

  • a cabin ventilation system, activated upon unlocking the car, which automatically expels volatile substances from the interior components and textiles

  • air conditioning system with filter and a sensor, which shuts air intake if the environmental concentrations of substances such as nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons are too high

  • allergy-tested rubber covering instead of textile carpets

  • leather is tanned using vegetable substances instead of chromium. all metal components also tested for contact allergies

Seems like they have everything covered, eh? That's going to be about $37, 585, plus $175 for the Interior Air Quality System, and $97.66 for the rubber floor mats, please. Check here for more info.
