Some Restaurants in Sweden Will Soon Bear 'Allergy-Free' Certificates

Filed in archive Food Allergies by Gloria Gamat on August 18, 2008

Sweden's Asthma and Allergy Association announced last week that people with food allergies can soon dine without worries in Swedish restaurants bearing 'allergy-free' certificates.

The said allergy-free certificates will be awarded to restaurants whose staff undergo a special training course that will enable them to better advise patrons of their food options, thereby avoiding the risk of allergic reactions.

According to Mats Hulth, the head of the Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Association:

"This is the first time in Sweden and the first time in Europe" that this kind of label is being made available to eateries.

It's a question of competition too because it could be good for a restaurant to show the sign on the door."

Well I think every city in the world should implemented such allergy-free certificates in some restaurants. So that sufferers of food allergies can dine out with confidence too.
