Researchers Find Gene Linked To Asthma
Filed in archive Asthma on June 13, 2006
Danish researchers claim that they have found a gene that is directly correlated to asthma.
"What makes our find so special is that we found an individual immunological gene that seems to be directly connected to the risk of developing asthma," the head of the research team, Torben Kruse, said. "Scientists have never been able to say the same before. Other findings have been described as possibly having an effect on allergies and eczema."
I wonder if this is related to the gene that may be linked to depression, too? At any rate, this is promising, and could pave the way for developing the treatment for SOME asthma or eczema cases. Since these diseases are a result of an interplay of several other factors, gene therapy may offer partial solution at best.
