Patient Feedback on Grazax
One of the most visited entry in this blog is that about the UK launch of the Grazax pill vaccine against hay fever. With spring upon us, people with pollen allergies should start thinking of early steps to help them cope in the next few months. Those who have allergies to and are in areas with lots of ragweed, for example, should start taking measures now to help ease them through the summer.

I just wanted to pull out this comment left by Lindsay in the comment section. Lindsay has tried Grazax, and has shared her initial experience with us (thanks, Lindsay!):
Ruth and everyone! I tried Grazak (under medical supervision for the first dose) for 5 days with some reactions such as slight closing of my airways and minor itching and a red rash. However on the 6th day I was taken to A&E as the reactions were more severe. Something in Grazak attacked the lining of my gut causing immense pain. My airways were closing and I had rashes and extreme itching on my Extremities, lasting for approx 5 hours. My consultant is aware of all this and says he will not now prescribe Grazak to anyone without further investigations. I am back to square one. Anyone who has this prescribed for them MUST do so under suprevised medical conditions as there is a chance of an anaphalactic shock (Sorry, not sure of the spelling!) If it is found to be suitable for you, then it may work well but it was not to be for me and I am back to square one taking antihistamines and nasal sprays to no effect really! It is a disappointing result for me but I will be keen to know how anyone else gets on! Good Luck!

Let me reiterate what Lindsay also pointed out: Grazax didn't work out for her, but that doesn't mean it won't for you, neither. Consult your allergist if this is the right method of treatment for your allergies.

You can also find more information on Grazax online on their patient support website, or you may want to download patient information leaflet for more details on the use of Grazax.
