Not Nuts Trail Mix for the Nut-Allergic
Filed in archive Food Allergies , Gadgets and Tools Against Allergies on October 17, 2006
Trail mix is a popular snack people take when they go outdoors, hiking, mountaineering or camping, because it's handy, lightweight, and dry. It usually contains a mixture of nuts and dried fruits such as raisins or cranberries.
For those with nut allergies, here's an alternative: Not Nuts Trail Mix by Enjoy Life Foods. This trail mix contains raw sunflower kernels and roasted hulled pumpkin seeds instead of nuts, and though it contains chocolate chips, they're made from chocolate liquor and non-dairy cocoa butter, so it's also okay for those with milk allergies. Check out its complete ingredient list and nutritional info.
Incidentally, pumpkin seeds are also be used to make an alternative to peanut butter.
