Newsweek Cover Story: Food Allergies
Filed in archive Allergy: Research and Development , Food Allergies on October 29, 2007
Food allergies are definitely starting to get the press attention it deserves. Last week, the Today Show. This week, on the cover of Newsweek (US edition), no less.

The four page article discusses the theories why there are increasing incidences of food allergies, indicating that although the hygiene hypothesis seems to be backed up by science, nobody really knows how allergies come about. The article also touches on diagnostic tools and the current scientific research exploring potential treatment approaches. Currently, there is no treatment for food allergies. Until such is found, the only measures individuals, parents and carers of food-allergic individuals can do is to prevent exposure and manage the symptoms.
All of these are discussed in the Newsweek article, available online.
