Summertime has begun and the peak of seasonal allergies is approaching. If you'd like to explore alternative treatment for your hay fever, here are some natural allergy treatment options you might want to look into:

1. Butterbur extract - found to be as effective as some antihistamines for treating hayfever, without the sedating effects
2. Acupuncture - scientifically shown to be effective in treating hay fever symptoms, also in children
3. Yoga - the right poses and breathing exercises can alleviate allergy symptoms
4. Hypnotherapy - a Swiss study showed that the effect of hypnosis on allevaiting allergy symptoms appeared to be additive and reduce the antihistamine doses that the test subjects needed to take
5. Diet - "Dishes with cayenne pepper, onion, garlic, hot ginger, and fenugreek, can thin mucous secretions and clear nasal passages. If you have ragweed or other weed pollen allergies, Clifford Bassett, MD, told WebMD, "avoid eating Melon, banana, cucumber, sunflower seeds, chamomile, and Echinacea," which exacerbates symptoms."
