Nasal Allergies and Snoring

You may not know it but if you suffer from nasal allergies during the day, you may be keeping your bed partner awake at night. Apparently, nasal allergy increases congestion and aggravates snoring.
Congestion is more often a problem with chronic or year-round allergies. Sensitivities to pet dander and dust mites, allergens often found on the bed or in the bedroom, are particularly important in chronic snoring. Seasonal allergies, such as those triggered during the Tampa Bay oak pollen season from January through April, may also be severe enough to cause or aggravate snoring.
If snoring gets too bad, it may disrupt the quality or duration of your sleep and this is associated with a serious medical condition known as obstructive sleep apnea. You will wake up feeling tired despite having slept. Do not take this lightly; talk to your doctor to discuss management options.
