Allergy: Diagnostics and Treatment
by ruth on February 20, 2007

Straile links NAET with the successful elimination of food allergies such as milk and peanuts. He begins the procedure by placing a patient in contact with a vial of water that has been charged to the frequency of the food item. Through kinesiology, he measures the strength of one arm against that of the arm holding the vial in order to assess the severity of the allergy.
The mind is then desensitized to the stimulus through manual neuromodulation, a procedure that places pressure on the spinal cord in order to send signals to the brain.
"It's very gentle, some see it as a massage," Straile said.
The spinal stimulation builds a more pleasant association between the allergen and the brain. Other practitioners of NAET use acupuncture or acupressure to send signals through the spinal cord, but Straile prefers to take a chiropractic approach.
Sorry, but although I believe in the powers of acupressure and acupuncture, this just sounds a bit far-fetched. Sure enough, the Chirobase, a Skeptical Guide to Chiropractic History, Theories, and Practices has a lengthy review of scientific literature related to NAET. It's pretty long, so I'll just repeat the conclusion here:
NAET clashes with the concepts of anatomy, physiology, pathology, physics, and allergy accepted by the scientific community. The story of its "discovery" is highly implausible. Its core diagnostic approach -- muscle testing for "allergies" -- is senseless and is virtually certain to diagnose nonexistent problems. Its recommendations for dietary restrictions based on nonexistent food allergies are likely to place the patient at great risk for nutrient deficiency, and, in the case of children, at risk for social problems and the development of eating disorders. I believe that practitioners who use NAET have such poor judgment that they should not be permitted to remain licensed. If you encounter a practitioner who relies on the strategies described in this article, please ask the state attorney general to investigate.
Oh well, up to you, guys. Personally, I don't buy it.

It does work. Be sure the AG talks to patients who came in with a Western Medicine positive test for the allergy in question.

Although all the unrecognized branches of medicine have a certain amount of truth in them (it has been discovered that homeopathy really has a point in the matter that states that any substance that was in contact with some amount of water will change the molecular structure of the water permanently), this story is too far-fetched.

I have a friend who nearly died from mold poisioning. Nothing helpeduntil NAET she is now living a normal pain and mold free life. I have chemical sensitivities and because of her experience have begun treatment. All I know is I went in with excruciating pain in my neck from breathing fumes from Ben Gay and came oout pain free and have been since. Don't knock it till you've tried it.

It's amazing how you talk like an expert on an issue that you have no practical experience. I would be skeptical at people like you that spew negatives about things you have no experience. If you want to write about something, research it, evaluate it, try it and then you can speak from the heart rather than from ignorance.

NAET does work, and it works well. NAET does not require that you restrict your diet for any longer than 48 hours after a treatment. I have been cured of allergies to glutamates, salicylates, dust mite, sugars and many other. Don't believe this guy, give NAET a try.

I suffered all my life with skin rashes that have covered up to 80% of my body thanks to this skeptical opinion. I saw a Naturopathic Doctor and got a blood test and found that i was allergic to Wheat Dairy and Soy! NAET cleared those allergies and cleared my rash. It doesn't work for a small fraction of people that try it, just like any other treatment. For example, UV treatments and steroid cream didnt work on my rash, that doesn't mean it doesn't work for everyone. The fact that it does work is enough to give it try.

Let me re-iterate on why i said i suffered for that long because of the skeptical attitude. If it wasn't for that attitude, this treatment would be more popular, and i would have done it years and years and years ago.

I'd also like to add that buyer beware; there are cases of sham NAET workers, and people getting duped into spending a fortune for the treatments
