My Baby is Allergic To Baby Powder

There were several times in the past when my son's runny nose would go on for weeks and weeks. I thought it was just because of the heat and the dust here in the tropics where we live. It could also be indoor allergy for all I know. Then he always had bouts of nasty allergy coughs accompanied by fever and nose bleeding.

Until the pediatrician pointed that he might be allergic to baby powder - something that I have been using on him since he was a toddler (even when he was a baby!). My son is 7 years old now and due to force of habit I put baby powder on his back, chest and cheeks after every bath thinking that he'd truly be refreshed with the baby powder considering that he'll be sweaty again in no time. It's quite common for moms here to do that you know...since kids here get sweaty all the time.

My son had to be hospitalized due to allergy cough before I finally ditched the baby powder habit. I just didn't think that the baby powder is the culprit because I myself grew up with it. But we all are made differently and our reactions to particular allergens vary a great deal.
