Milk for Children After Treatment of Milk Allergy
Filed in archive Food Allergies on August 20, 2009

© bensonkuaBased on a study published this month at the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, children who have been successfully treated of their milk allergies ought to be encouraged to drink milk regularly after treatment. Not only is it safe to do so, researchers also believe that regular consumption of dairy products may be needed for children to maintain their developed tolerance.
My son naturally outgrew his dairy allergies at the age or around 3 years. In principle he can drink milk, but has opted to stay with rice milk. It's no longer his immune system that's reacting to milk, but his taste buds! I think he does get enough exposure to milk products though in other foods like cookies, sauces, breads, etc.
