Martha-Free Allergen-Free Recipe Exchange
Filed in archive Allergy Blogs , Food Allergies , Recipes on February 18, 2008
Last week, a lot of my fellow allergy bloggers expressed disappointment over the results of Martha Stewart's Big Idea Bake-off. Even if the allergy-friendly recipe publication idea got 57% of the votes, a tie was declared (isn't a tie supposed to mean 50-50?), and there will be NO publication for allergy issues (but there will be one for pets, which was the second placer).
Like many others affected by the issue of (food) allergies, I am mightily disappointed by the way this has turned out. I hope that soon, a food-allergy magazine gets launched and proves Martha wrong in not backing it up when she had the opportunity.
On the other hand, as Alison points out, who needs Martha anyway? In lieu of a print publication, we can publish and share allergy-friendly recipes on the web ourselves. Yes, we!
Alison invites you to join her "Who needs Martha allergen-free recipe exchange".
... I am asking you, beginning and advanced cooks alike, do you have an original allergen-free recipe (free of gluten and/or other top allergens) that you would like to share on this website? Whether simple or complex, do you whip up something that others with celiac disease, food allergies or intolerance could enjoy?
Email the recipe to me by midnight March 2 and I will post it along with your name and (if you wish to send) a picture of either the food you created or you or your family.
If you write your own blog, this a blog event! Post your recipe on your blog by midnight on March 2nd. Please mention this event and also include a link back to this post. Then, email me at alison@surefoodsliving.com and include your name, blog name and permanent link to your post.

Wow--I had heard about the results, but didn't know that they had decided against a food allergy publication. I think the recipe exchange is a great idea--would you consider sending this post to the Living With Food Allergies Blog Carnival this week? Our theme--ironically--is recipes! Email me and I'll send you the info to participate. Thanks!

Hi, these results all sound a bit fishy to me. As you, when I went to school, 57 was not 50-50 when it was out of 100? Hmmm...
Regards.
