Inner-City Anti-IgE Therapy for Asthma
Children living within the inner cities of the United States are believed to be at higher risk of developing allergic asthma. Indoor allergens commonly found in inner cities, such as dust mites, cockroaches, molds and animal dander, are significant allergens that may contribute to the prevalence of asthma in inner cities. Additionally, proximity to major roads also contribute to the risk.

A nationwide clinical study will be conducted starting this month to evaluate the efficacy of the asthma drug Xolair, in the treatment of allergic asthma in inner-city children. The study, called Inner City Anti-IgE Therapy for Asthma (ICATA), wil enroll about 50 children in 10 different sites within the country.

If you would like (your child) to participate in this study, see if you meet the eligibility criteria and locations where the trials will be done.
