Hypoallergenic Flowers
Filed in archive Hay Fever on December 21, 2008
Just because you have pollen allergies does not mean that you must stay away from flowers all your life. Aside from possible medications, the right choice of flowers may spell the difference. In general, flowers that are pollinated by insects (the pollens are located deep into the flower and are not easily carried by wind) are better for people with pollen allergies. There are also so-called "hypoallergenic flowers"- blooms that are pollen-free or have low-pollen-count. Examples of these are Lilies, orchids and tea roses.
Want some flowers that will definitely not trigger your hay fever? Go artificial! Silk flowers are not only nose-friendly, you can keep them forever, too!

I had always wondered what flower variety was considered hypoallergenic.
