Hypoallergenic Dogs
Filed in archive Living with Allergies on April 19, 2006
What if your kid, who has a host of allergies including the man's-best-friend, asks for a pet dog? Or if a blind person who's allergic to dogs need a seeing-eye dog?
Well, for $1000, they can have a labradoodle. No, I kid you not, that's not a tongue twister, that's what they call a pup with a poodle and a Labrador for parents. They are supposed to be 90% hypoallergenic.
Read more about designer dog breeds from the Paramus Post. But before you go and buy your hypoallergenic pet, be sure to read AllergyEscape's primer on Labradoodles and hypoallergenic dogs for some tips.

Labradoodles are NOT 90% hypoallergenic. A poodle is good for allergy sufferers, a lab is not. Therefore only 50% MAX would be hypo. In actuality it's only about 25% of pups that are hypo, the rest shed like falling autumn leaves and make an allergy sufferer sneeze til they cry. If you want hypoallergenic get a Portugese Water Dog. Cheaper AND purebred and definitely worth it! You know what you're getting with a true purebred.
