Travelling can need a tad bit more planning for people with allergies than those without. Have you packed enough medications that will last you the duration of your travel? Did you specify you food requirements when you booked your airline? If travelling in a country that speaks a foreign language, have you considered getting a translation card? Did you book a "Pure Room" in your hotel?
What is a pure room?
These are especially treated rooms, specifically alloted for those suffering from allergies, especially from airborne particles. The rooms undergo several steps to achieve this hypoallergenic status, more than simply removing draperies and carpeting. According to Pure Solutions, a company that create such roooms for hotels, says that the rooms undergo this 6-step (patent pending) process :
- Air handling unit is cleaned and disinfected, and then installed with a 2-Ply anti-microbial treated filter.
- Carpet and upholstery are treated with patented solutions that remove and prevent the accumulation of dirt, baceteria and mold.
- The room gets a high ozone shcok treatment to kill nearly all mold and bacteria in the room.
- An electronic air purifier is installed.
- Hypoallergenic beddings are used, from the mattress to the pillow covers.
- A activated carbon chlorine filter is installed in the showerheads to minimize irritations due to chlorine.
