Got Allergies? Me Too!
Filed in archive Allergy Blogs on March 21, 2006
Spring is in the air, and just the right time to launch the Allergizer, your online resource for information and guide to allergies. My name is Ruth Schaffer and I have been blogging here at Creative Weblogging over at the Biotech Weblog. Although I do have a Master's degree in the life sciences, my interest in allergies is borne out of personal reasons, rather than a professional one. Much as I hate winter and look forward to the coming of spring every year, I am one of those who dread the pollens from the wonderful blooms heralding the coming of what would otherwise be my favorite time of the year. Apparently, it seems I passed this wacko immune system to my son, who from early on, showed many symptoms of allergic reactions, mostly to food. At three years old, he is just starting to show signs of outgrowing his milk allergy, although we still struggle with his reactions to nuts and crustaceans. It's a daily struggle, and over the years, I have learned a lot of things, equally from experience as from research. I'd like to share what I already know and what I have yet to find out with you, and reciprocally, if you have a story or an experience to share, I definitely want to hear about it, too. Let us make Allergizer an online resource and forum for all of us whose immune systems seems to be running on hi-power octane!

Hello Ruth:
Thank you for your Allergy Focus and fruitful Informational contributions.
While most people measure the Year with Holidays, Birthdays & Social Events ...
Some Measure their year by the Allergy Seasons.
I would welcome you to visit some of my Replies for direction as to How you can Neutralize YOUR Allergy Disease.
With regard to your Posting, may I focus on your Son's Allergy Status because it is terribly Important that his ALLERGY Progression is STOPPED before it translates to a LifeTime of Allergy Disease & Misery (sorry , but true).
To begin, the CHILD Allergy APPLE Does NOT Fall Far from the Parent ALLERGY Tree.
1 in 3 Infants begin Life with Allergies. While often trivialized and dismissed as a nuisance that a sufferer has to “Live With”, Allergy is the Rodney Dangerfield of Chronic Diseases ..No Respect.
What Allergy Sufferers Do NOT Know is that “UnTreated” ALLERGY is a LifeTime, Cumulative, Progressive Chronic Disease.
For Infants, who are genetically predisposed to Allergy, the Progression of Allergy Disease is called Allergy MARCH. Allergy March first manifests itself ( 6-12 mo. ) with FOOD Allergy via Eczema, G.I., Throwing up & Behavioral Symptoms.
As the MARCH continues, FOOD Allergies may or may not subside, but are then joined by Allergy to Environments i.e. Dust, Mites with classical and other types of Enviro Symptoms.
Unfortunately, unless this March is Treated / Neutralized, Allergic ASTHMA can likely be the next Disease MilesStone of Allergy March. And once the Allergic Asthma Cow is Out of the Barn ( established as early as age 6 ).. there is no getting it back IN ( Ouch ! ) !
And the MARCH Does NOT Stop there. But rather, as UnTreated Allergy Continues / Exacerbates… It Leads a Sufferer down a LifeTime, Slippery Slope of further recalcitrant Diseases, Health Complications and severely compromised Quality of Life ( LifeTime Ouch ! ).
May I suggest that your Son be Allergy Blood Tested for common FOOD ( Immediate & Delayed ) and Enviro Allergens.
Once his offending allergens are Identified that can be Addressed / Neutralized via Enviro ImmunoTherapy DROPs and DIET for his FOOD Allergy.
Ruth..
You are NOT alone. Many Mothers / Fathers are Fighting their Child's ALLERGY Disease Progression and Feeling Helpless when they Do Not See Improvement.
It is my hope that Knowledge such as this BLOG, will give Parents the Understanding they Need to be their Child's Advocate and help their Child in their Fight to Say NO To ALLERGY !
