Gloves Made from Guayule Latex, Alternative to Those with Latex Allergies
Filed in archive Gadgets and Tools Against Allergies , Latex/Rubber Allergies on April 28, 2008

The US FDA has approved of a new alternative to latex gloves that apparently do not cause allergic reactions in people with Type 1 Latex Allergy. The new gloves, made by privately-held Yulex Corp, are derived from Guayule, a desert plant native to the southwestern United States and North Central Mexico.
The FDA said people with latex allergies did not have a reaction to these new gloves, but like traditional rubber gloves, they will also have to carry a warning about possible allergies because there have been no long-term studies on possible reactions.
