Generic Allegra from Mylan Laboratories
Filed in archive Allergy Medications on April 13, 2006
Those who are taking the antihistamine Allegra may want to watch out for and try Mylan Laboratories Inc.'s generic version of the drug. Mylan announced yesterday in a press release that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted tentative approval for "Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA)" for fexofenadine hydrochloride tablets, 30mg, 60mg and 180mg.
Uh-oh. Aventis won't be happy to share this billion dollar market. As it is, there is still a pending patent infringement case filed by Aventis against Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., Ranbaxy Laboratories, Ltd., and Amino Chemicals, Ltd., companies which have launched allegedly unlicensed generic versions of Allegra.
