From the Medical Grand Rounds: Asthma and Pollen Allergies
Filed in archive Allergy Blogs , Asthma , Hay Fever on May 23, 2006
I spotted two allergy-related entries in this week's Medical Grand Rounds, a weekly compendium of medical blogs.
Breath Spa for Kids (a great blog about asthma!) writes an entry entitled, Does Early Antibiotic Use Increase The Risk Of Asthma?, emphasizing the need for judicious use of antibiotics, not just to prevent the emergence of antibiotic resistant bugs, which is another story, but because of the possibly unforeseen risks involved.
I hate rainy weather, period, even though luckily, I don't suffer from spring allergies. Healthy Concerns, however, personally confirms that rainy weather is even worse for those with allergic rhinitis.Towards the end of the post are also some tips for coping with hay fever, especially for those in the Bay Area.
Check them out!

In June of last year my nine year old son was diagnosed with severe asthma. I found myself sitting up with him every night just listening to him breath. His wheezing got so bad that you could hear it on the other end of our house. He would sneeze continuously every morning. Being the mother that I am I would find myself walking into his bedroom all during the night to check on him. All the doctors would do was keep prescribing medicines that seem to do nothing for the problems. That is when my friend told me about Pionair Air Purifiers. I put a Pionair unit in my son’s room and we have not had a problem since. He has gone from having to use his inhaler several times a day to sometimes not having to use his inhaler at all. You can find this air unit at www.pionair.net
