Dyson DC 14 All Floors Upright Vacuum, Steel Yellow
Here's a vaccum cleaner for those of you with allergies to pet dander: the Dyson DC 14 All Floors Upright Vacuum.

This vacuum cleaner boasts of a mini turbine head that can remove pet hair from upholstery, stairs and the car. Here's the product description from Amazon:

Its Root8Cyclone technology features conical chambers that generate 150,000 g's of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of the airflow into the vacuum's 5/7-gallon collection cup. With no bag to Clog, the vacuum's 250 air watts of suction power remain steady.

There are no bags or filters to buy. The vacuum comes with a pre-motor filter that captures particles down to 0.1 micron (e.g., pollen) and is washable. Its post-motor electrostatic filter, which never needs replacing, traps carbon emissions from the motor. Approved for allergy sufferers by the British Allergy Foundation, the vacuum's lifetime HEPA filter doesn't clog and provides cleaner expelled air.

It's not cheap, but it has got great reviews and everybody says it's worth every penny. There's another similar model, the Dyson DC14 Animal Upright Vacuum Cleaner, and you might be tempted by the word "animal". The only difference seems to be the mini turbine head that cleans pet hair from confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs, and the car. It's again a few bucks more expensive, though.
