Food Allergies during Food Allergy Week, May 13-19
Filed in archive Allergy Blogs , Allergy Support Groups , Food Allergies on May 10, 2007
Next week, May 13-19 2007, is Food Allergy Awareness Week (FAAW). This period is aimed at increasing awareness about food allergies, sharing information and helping people deal with food allergies. Here at Allergizer, you can find a lot of info on food allergies which I have collected over the past year. On the side bar, you will also find links to other websites, support groups and blogs about food allergies. Feel free to browse through them.
In observation of this year's FAAW, the Kids With Food Allergies Support Group has also released the results of a survey they conducted to determine the top concerns of parents with food allergic kids. Nutrition, safety, education as well as stress, fear and isolation are the common challenges faced by food allergy families. As an aside, there's another similar survey currently being conducted by University of Maryland researchers, should you wish to participate in one.
CheckMyTag has also released their Be Aware. Be Safe. quarterly bulletin, Spring 2007, which focuses on food labelling, and sharing knowledge and experiences on food allergies with non-allergic families.
The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network has also listed a lot of ideas on how to get involved in raising awareness about food allergies, whether as an individual, or a group/organization. Check them out! Remember, the more people understand food allergies, the easier it will be for us directly dealing with it.
