If you knew how much chemicals and processing happens before cotton wool from the trees are transformed into pieces of clothing, you probably wouldn't wonder why some people with hypersensitive skin react when they wear new clothes. Of course, one should always wash new clothes before first use, but often it takes several rounds before the residues are gone, if at all.

If you have hypersensitive skin, you might want to try at least the undergarments from Cottonique.

Cottonique is a perfect solution to allergy-free apparel for men, women, children and infants. The products include latex-free, spandex-free, chemical-free 100% natural cotton bras, briefs, shorts, t-shirts, and nightwear. Styles are available in elasticized as well as non-elasticized styles. Cottonique does not use bleaching compounds, color dyes and textile resins that may pose a threat to sensitive skin. The cotton used is 100% naturally grown. The fabric is highly absorbent and breathable.

I know it can't be feasible to have an chemical free wardrobe, but I think it will already make a difference if you start from those pieces of clothing that has the most contact with your skin: your underwear.
