Carter's Baby Clothes with Tagless Labels Cause Skin Rashes on Babies
Filed in archive Information About , Skin Allergies on October 28, 2008

After reading Dr. Moore's blog on a line of Carter's baby clothes causing skin rashes on some babies, I frantically searched for more information as my six-month old daughter has been wearing Carter's onesies and sunsuits since Day 1. Looking back, she did have some rashes on the upper back at some point, and though I did suspect the iron-on labels, I wasn't able to pinpoint which in particular to blame as she has clothes from several brands. It appears that "tagless" baby clothes are "in".
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's advisory, the Carter's line of baby clothing that caused rashes were from Carter's Fall 2007 product line.
The Fall 2007 line utilizes a label on the inside back of the garment that has a raised surface with a solid, rather than a stenciled, background [photo above]. This advisory does not apply to previous and current product lines, which utilize labels with stenciled backgrounds [photo below].

Dr. Moore says that the rashes may be contact dermatitis as a reaction to the ink used on the labels. If your babies develop rashes on the skin which may been in contact with the iron-on labels, you are advised to discontinue putting the clothes on your baby. If the rashes persist, do consult your pediatrician.

My baby used to have severe baby allergies. She was having blood in her diaper as a milk allergy symptoms. Today she is allergy free, happy baby! And I buy only natural, 100% cotton baby cloths - just in case.

these tagless label manufacturers use organic-solvent chemical materials ,such as PVC,phthalate, etc. although these organic-soluble materials can meet certain safety standard ,the remain of the harmful elements is unavoidable .
However , water-soluble material can be cleaned by water .its environmental effect can not be achieved by those organic-soluble material.in January 2009, Avery Dennison group began to adopt this water-soluble material .
in fact, there are still many organic -solvent tagless labels on the current market. the main defect of these tagless labels is that it has semitransparent glue edge around the label .the glue is not latex but adhesive .
if others want to buy tagless clothes ,please pay special attention to it .
