Bil Jac Frozen Dog Food for Dogs with Food Allergies

I had heard that Bil-Jac was great for dogs with allergies (which both of my dogs have, since that seems to be my lot in life-expensive pets). When I saw it at the pet store and read the label and noticed no soy, I did a happy dance and bought a large bag. It probably saved me about $3 over the expensive prescription food, but I don't have to special order it!The Bil Jac also gets a good review from the Fun Times Guide, although they don't mention anything about it's suitability for food-allergic dogs. The FAQ on the Bil Jac website addressing allergies is a bit vague too:
Q: My vet told me to feed my dog lamb and rice because he may have food allergies. Does Bil-Jac make a lamb and rice formula? A: Bil-Jac is unique in that we 1) chill our meat 2) take special care of our ingredients and 3) process our ingredients very differently. Dogs who are diagnosed with food allergies often react to poor quality meat ingredients or improper cooking. Most dogs will not show "allergic" reactions to Bil-Jac because our superior quality food is prepared correctly. Many times allergies are from method of preparation, not diet itself. We are certain you'll find that Bil-Jac will solve your allergy problems better than competitive lamb and rice formulas.Still, it's worth trying, I guess. If your dog doesn't show symptoms of an allergic reaction, it could mean quite a bit of savings.
