Asthma Drug Advair, Deadly?
Filed in archive Allergy Medications , Allergy: Diagnostics and Treatment , Asthma on April 11, 2006
If you have been watching the Today Show recently, you might have been one of the many who got alarmed upon hearing that Advair, a popular inhaled steroid for treating asthma, was potentially deadly.
Late last year, the US FDA already requested the manufacturers to change the warning labels on Advair, Serevent and Foradil, and include a warning that states that use of these bronchodilators could increase the chances of severe asthma episodes that could result in death. The manufacturers refused, and disagreed with the FDA warning that these drugs should only be used in the event that other medications fail.
There are patients and allergists, however, who swear that such bronchodilators does work and are safe if properly used.
Are you using Advair? What has been your experience? You may want to add your story to the collection of patient feedback on Advair at Medications.com.
As always, when in doubt, consult your allergist or immunologist.

Advair nearly killed me several years ago. Within a few days of using the purple disk, I ended up alone in the middle of the night on the bathroom floor. I suppose it just wasn't my time.
I looked on the internet for Advair and found that Glaxo-Smith stock had dropped 4% due to concerns of side effects.
