Are Allerca's Hypoallergenic Cats Ethical?
Early next year, Allerca will be delivering their specially-bred hypoallergenic cats to the first batch of owners. If you've missed a previous entry, you might want to see a video clip of veterinarian Dr. Bernadine Cruz, a spokesperson for Allerca Lifestyle Pets.

Meghaun Daum, however, questions the ethics and necessity of such cat breeding.
Like a lot of animal-loving allergy sufferers, I'm more than a little intrigued by the idea of having a cat that won't send me to the emergency room, even if that cat costs more than a used Toyota. But like a lot of animal-loving rational human beingslinks, I'm philosophically opposed to the deliberate breeding of already plentiful animals (OK when it comes to pandas, not OK for dogs and cats).

I suppose she has a point. I mean, it's not like one really needs a cat. But then, there are enough human children in the world, neverthess, IVF and all sorts of fertility treatments are being conducted.

What do you think?
