Antibiotics Not Effective Against Rhinitis
When you've got a runny nose, and the discharge is colored, that means you need antibiotics, right?

Wrong.

Experts say that in cases of rhinitis, which are usually due to allergies (hay fever), antibiotics won't help. In fact, it may even do harm. Side effects of antibiotic therapy may include vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain.

Antibiotics may help with sinusitis, though. So if you have a runny nose, and you're not sure whether it's due to allergies or to a bacterial infection, better consult professional help for proper treatment.
