Allergy-Safe Summer Camp
Filed in archive Living with Allergies on June 20, 2007
I've just finished packing my son's bag for their annual summer camp. They're off for a 3 days and 2 nights to a farmhouse half an hour away and though this would be his second time to go, I am of course still apprehensive about the possibility of him having an allergic reaction, especially considering that we're half an hour's drive away. A lot can happen within half an hour, y'know.
However, I am considerably more relaxed this time as last year. I've packed his clothes, his beddings, and all other paraphernalia. His antihistamines and other medications are separately packed in a bag, which I will personally hand tomorrow to the teacher in charge so that in case they need it, they wouldn't need to ask my son, who may or may not immediately remember where his medicines are.
Do you have allergic kids going on summer camp? How do you prepare for it? What steps do you take to avoid allery mishaps?
