For small children, she recommends Zyrtec and Claritin. Depending on the age of your child, Zyrtec comes in syrup, chewable tablets or normal tablets. For Claritin, there's syrup or tablets, or Reditabs, which dissolve in water.
In our case, somehow, we got stuck with Fenistil Drops, although my son is already nearly four, and could probably take tablets without problems. But the last time he got allergy bouts, it still worked like a dream, so why fix something if it's not broken, right?
For more info on allergy treatment for kids, go over Dr. Vincent Iannelli's article for About/Pediatrics. Trisha is also starting a primer on Allergies and you can find the first in the series here.

Treating the symptoms is one approach but I would rather control the allergens. I believe nose washing is the way to go. Wash the allergens away before the body can react to them. My favorite for ease of use is nasopure. I found it on nasopure.com.
