Allergies to Ladybugs
Filed in archive Insect Allergies on November 11, 2006
Here on my side of the world, ladybugs are considered as a symbol of luck. However, symbol or not, an infestation is bad news. And in autumn, when they start seeking warmer niches near our homes, ladybugs are likely to bring more woes than luck, particularly to those who are allergic to them.
According to a new study, ladybug allergies are on the rise, with data suggesting that they are probably as common as cockroach or cat allergies. Symptoms are the usual associated with other allergic reactions: itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and rashes.
If you have unexplained allergy symptoms that comes during spring, autumn or winter, have a look around for small red dotted bugs. Reach for a vacuum cleaner, or better, call pest control.
