Allergies to Kiwi Fruit

If you or your child already have other forms of allergies, you might want to be extra careful with kiwi. A new study shows that, particularly in children, kiwi can result to severe allergic reactions. If an allergy test hasn't been done yet to identify the substances to which you or your children are allergic to, take extra precaution just in case you do show allergic symptoms.
Incidentally, kiwi allergies are also linked to latex allergies and hay fever. If you're allergic to one, you may be allergic to the others, too.

I have a severe allergy to kiwi. For years I had episodes of diarrhea and vomiting. Only when I took something home that contained kiwi did I discover the allergy towards it. Since it is usually unknown what people are allergic to, there are probably far more allergies that are not reported. I think that the kiwi could be deadly to me.

I think i might have kiwi allergies because whenever I eat a kiwi I get a rash on my nose is this rare?

I am allergic to kiwi for sure. Last month, I ate fruit pie contains other fruits and kiwi too. Immediately i had burning feeling in my mouth n throat. At that time, i didn't know actual cause and thought may be some ingredients in the fruit pie could cause this reaction.
Last night, i ate little quantity (20 gram) of kiwi and got that burning sensation again in my throat. My lips were swallowed and felt irritation in my ears. Last but not least, my eyes became dark red and left eye swallowed too.
It was first time i felt i am allergic to anything and it is kiwi. Dr. said this allergy is getting worse and next time could be more harmful.
I think it could be life threatening...

i notice that everytime i eat kiwi fruit, I immediately feel like my throat is closing up. My eyes and throat feel itchy --my throat actually feels like it has a thick coating down there...very uncomfortable.

I seem to be developing an alergic response to Kiwi. The last few times I have eaten Kiwi I have developed blisters in the foor of my mouth I did of cause remoce all of the skin. Is this an alergic reaction? I dont have alergies to anything else. I would welcome comments.

Today I actually had my first allergic reaction to kiwi! Im in highschool and i had it at lunch. Almost immediately my eyes were itching and watery, my lips were numb and tingly, and i had irritation in my ears. I went to the nurse where my lips got so swollen i could barely talk and my eyes almost swelled shut! Also, my throat was swelling blocking off my breathing. I had to go to the hospital and everything. Ill never have Kiwi again!

I was interested to know that several have an allergic reaction to kiwi fruit ! I am not a person that suffers with allergies but on eating just a small portion of kiwi my throat restricts and feels as though it is closing up and my ears seem affected. Can anyone tell me what is the cause of this strange reaction from kiwi.

2 days ago my sister was selling cadbury chocolate.
Mum gave me a peice of chocolate and then soon i got a peice of kiwifruit from my sister. Half and hour later my whole body had big raised realy realy itchy lumps all over it and i had to go to a pharmacy and the doctor said it was probelly kiwifruit bu we forgot to tell him about the chocolate i ate and the next day i had chocolate again and i got swollen lumps all over again. However the today i had dark chocolate and 5 pecies of chocolate (I forgot)and i DID NOT get any lumps. HELP. AM I ALLERGIC TO KIWIFRUIT OR CHOCOLATE.
I have not had kiwifruit beacuase im tok scared i will get it all over again. But however the second time i got the lumps was NOT as bad as the first

My daughter already has nut allergy but yesterday she had an allergic reaction to kiwi fruit. We had no idea she was allergic to kiwi aswell as nuts, her mouth became tingly, her face started swelling and her left eye swelled up and became very itchy.

I've never had an allergic reaction to any food products until 2 minutes ago after i'd eaten a kiwi. i've not had anything today but water until now and my throat feels coated with mucous and my toungue and throat feel constricted...wtf. i'm pissed, i really like kiwi and i've eaten all my life...f.

I have never had reactions to anything before,but the last two bee stings I had a lot of swelling and I think I was lucky that it has been on my arm and hand. The last two times I had kiwi my eyes became very itchy, I would like to know if I should watch out for anything else and is there anything that will help with the reactions.

I ate kiwi all the time growing up. But I just ate 3 or 4 bites of kiwi and all I can say is WOW! I feel some really weird effects. My eyes feel weird, heart racing, shakiness, dizziness, itchy, lips burning, nose running. This is crazy how intense the feelings are.
