Allergies During Travel
Filed in archive Hay Fever , Living with Allergies on May 9, 2007
Planning your summer holiday? For people with allergies, there's more to think about than just which swimsuit to bring, or what SPF lotion to get. Planning is a bit more tedious, if you want your holiday as allergy-free as possible. C-Health offers some tips before venturing into the great outdoors:
Choose your destination wisely, particularly if you have pollen allergies. Consider taking prophylactic medications months prior to your travel date and make sure you know what medication to bring during your trip.
If you have to travel by plane, take your medications on board, in case of emergencies. If you are travelling by car, open the windows and turn on the air conditioning for about 10 minutes prior to the start of a long drive. Drive off early in the morning when pollen levels are lowest.
If you're booked in a hotel, ask if they have special rooms for guests with allergies. Some hotels have "pure rooms".
So, where are you headed to this summer?
