$1 Million Donation for Alergy Research Center
Filed in archive Allergy: Research and Development on May 9, 2006
Hurrah for the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. They just received a million dollars to set up a new allergy research center. The benefactor, "Crazy" John Ilhan, also established the Ilhan Food Allergy Foundation which does research on anaphylaxis prevention.
Of the Ilhans' donation, $100,000 has contributed to research at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. The State Government has donated another $430,000 to the Children's Hospital to treat young allergy patients.
Apart from research, the money will also be used to employ additional staff to allow the hospital to treat more patients and reduce waiting lists.
Though the immediate beneficiaries will be the allergy sufferers in Australia, the outcomes of their ongoing research will benefit nor only Australians but people with allergies worldwide. Cheers to angels!
